From 28 to 31 May 2026, Snowsports Academy was in action with its portable SkiMachine at the Austrian Alpine Open in Kitzbühel. Together with KitzSki, Snowsports Academy gave visitors the opportunity to experience skiing beyond the winter season over four event days. Around 32,000 visitors attended the international DP World Tour top event, which not only attracted major sporting attention but also once again proved to be a strong stage for skiing in Kitzbühel.

Skiing in the Middle of a Golf Tournament

Kitzbühel has always been a city of sport. Known for skiing, shaped by great tennis moments and closely connected to the alpine way of life, Kitzbühel also showed its golf side at the Austrian Alpine Open. For Snowsports Academy, the international DP World Tour tournament offered a special opportunity to make snow sports visible in an unusual setting. Between golf, summer weather and tournament action, visitors were able to experience for themselves what skiing on a SkiMachine feels like. The portable SkiMachine was positioned in the Activity Area directly opposite hole 12, placing it at a highly frequented point on the tournament grounds. Many golf fans, families and guests stopped by and tried out the mobile ski slope. Especially on the main days, Saturday and Sunday, the offer was very well received.

Many guests did not expect to suddenly be able to stand on skis at a golf tournament – which made the interest in the portable SkiMachine all the greater when they discovered it. Families and children in particular took the opportunity to try out the ski slope free of charge.

The station was supervised on all four days by four state-certified ski instructors and trainers from Snowsports Academy with experience in the areas of methodology and safety on skis. They explained the process, provided skis, poles and helmets, and accompanied participants on the slope. This allowed both beginners and advanced skiers to safely and enjoyably try out their first turns or practise specific movements.

Portable SkiMachine in Kitzbühel as a Low-Threshold Access Point to Snow Sports

Snowsports Academy’s SkiMachine is a portable ski slope that can be set up at events and professionally supervised. It is suitable for different target groups and can be used both in event settings and for training purposes. Especially for beginners, it offers an easy introduction, as first movements and turns are possible after only a short time.

Many children managed to achieve a stable snowplough position after just a few minutes and were able to make their first turns. This repeatedly led to visible moments of success. For the Snowsports Academy team, these are exactly the moments that are particularly valuable: when children laugh, parents watch in surprise, and a short activity turns into a real experience.

The appearance in Kitzbühel once again showed how well a portable SkiMachine works when it is integrated into a suitable event environment. It attracts attention, brings movement to the event grounds and communicates snow sports in a simple and direct way.

Technically, mobile carpet ski slopes of this kind are used worldwide to make snow sports accessible regardless of snow conditions and season. They are used in urban spaces, at events, in training centres and in professional technique training, among other settings.

Bringing Winter Sports to Where People Are

For Snowsports Academy, appearances like this follow a clear objective: snow sports should be made accessible to as many people as possible. Not only in winter and not only on the mountain, but also wherever people come together.

The Austrian Alpine Open in Kitzbühel provided a very fitting setting for this. At first glance, golf and skiing may seem different, but in Kitzbühel they share a common sporting home. The Portable SkiMachine connected both worlds in a simple way and made winter sports tangible in the middle of the event grounds.

With appearances like this, Snowsports Academy shows how a portable SkiMachine can be used as a professionally supervised event module. It is suitable for promotional activities, sporting events, city events, tourism activations and many other formats where movement, attention and a direct connection to snow sports are required.
