The Snowsports Academy joined SkiAustria Vienna at the Day of Sports 2025 on Vienna’s Heldenplatz. With the ski simulator, kids and adults tested their slalom skills – and the rush was huge. From morning to evening, visitors carved, laughed, and chased best times. Winter sports in the heart of Vienna – a highlight for all ages!

Vienna as a ski city? Absolutely. The Wiener Stadtadler are proving that ski jumping can thrive in the capital – with record-breaking youth events, structured training, and big plans for the future.

At this year’s Women’s Summit in Treble Cone and Cardrona, more than 50 women from the international snowsports community took part. A special highlight: Austria was represented by Johanna Sperrer, instructor of the Snowsports Academy. She seized the opportunity to explore new training approaches, build international connections, and showcase the Academy at this inspiring event.

Many people believe that skiing can only truly be learned as a child. But that is not true: adults can successfully and safely take up winter sports at any age. The key lies in the right approach – with professional instruction, targeted preparation, and a clear awareness of personal limits. The Snowsports Academy has conducted a ski instructor education in the South of Africa for the first time. At the Afriski resort in the Kingdom of Lesotho, located at 3,000 meters above sea level, participants were trained according to the Austrian ski instructor system. With this project, the Academy is sending a strong signal for the international orientation of ski instructor training.
