Ski Instructor Course in Sulden: Our South Tyrol Debut at the Ortler

If one was in Sulden am Ortler between 20 and 30 November 2025, it was impossible to miss: winter wasn’t “on its way” — it had already arrived. On 21 November, four of our trainers had the pleasure of opening the first Snowsports Academy ski instructor course in Sulden am Ortler, South Tyrol. Fresh snowfall made the journey up to the 1,800-metre mountain village a little challenging — but for the 40 mostly local participants, that’s simply part of life in the region.

Dramatic mountain scenery and a deep blue sky set the tone for Snowsports Academy’s first South Tyrol course—together in Sulden am Ortler.

Snow and weather conditions on day one immediately became the first real test of the ten-day training. By day two, the sun revealed the dramatic Ortler backdrop in full clarity — and from that moment on, it was clear this course would be shaped not only by strong skiing, but by great spirit. Up on the slopes of Sulden, between 2,600 and 3,200 metres, temperatures stayed consistently around -15°C throughout the course. Just as consistent was the progress: the largely young group improved steadily, day after day, on their way toward becoming certified ski instructor trainees. Motivation was visible from the first turns — focused, committed, and genuinely eager to learn. Around 90% of participants came from Italy / South Tyrol, and that local skiing culture added a special energy: proud, grounded, and fully “all in”.

Training took place exactly where it made sense. The magic carpet in the valley and the Kanzelbahn provided ideal terrain for the technical programme, school runs, and children’s teaching — especially on poorer-weather days. By observing local Italian ski instructors, participants could watch, analyse, and connect what they had learned with real application on snow. Theory sessions were also delivered directly on site, thanks to Ski School Sulden, keeping everything practical, close to the slopes, and easy to link back to daily training.

After nine days of training and teaching demos in mixed conditions, the practical exams were held on Sunday, 30 November, in bright sunshine — covering school runs and personal skiing performance.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to Ski School Sulden and the Sulden cableways for the excellent cooperation. Sulden delivered outstanding conditions, and the welcome was as professional as it was warm.

The conclusion is clear: Sulden is made for training — and “snow connecting people” worked instantly in South Tyrol, both on and off the slopes. We’re already looking forward to next time.
