Snowflash Episode 3: Roswitha Stadlober

In a short interview, ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober shares what makes winter sports so fascinating for her, why her heart beats for competitive sports, and how she envisions the future.



Roswitha Stadlober knows every facet of elite sports from firsthand experience. She was a successful ski racer, served as a sports spokesperson in the Salzburg State Parliament, and co-founded the KADA association (KArriere DAnach), which helps athletes transition into professional careers.

Since October 2021, she has been leading the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) and has implemented numerous strategic initiatives. Notably, she launched the rebranding of Ski Austria with a new logo and the inspiring slogan #skiverrückt. In addition, she has championed sustainability, digitalization, and expert initiatives like Future:Focus:Ski & Snowboard Sports.


During her athletic career, competing under her maiden name Roswitha Steiner, she was named Austria’s Sportswoman of the Year in 1986. She won the Slalom World Cup crystal globe twice (1985/86 and 1987/88) and secured World Championship silver in 1987. At just 25, she retired from active racing.


Born in Radstadt, Roswitha is married to former cross-country world champion Alois Stadlober. Their daughter, Teresa Stadlober, is a successful World Cup cross-country skier, while their son Luis also competed in cross-country skiing.
